Paradoxine® is a standardized extract of the Grains of Paradise seed. Grains of Paradise (also known as Aframomum Melegueta) is a spice native to West Africa that belongs to the same botanical family as ginger.

Inside the Grains of Paradise seed, there are lots of similar chemical components such as 6-paradol, 6-gingerol, 6-shogaol & 6-gingerdione. The proprietary matrix of these chemical components in the Paradoxine® extract is referred to as ‘Aframols’. The Paradoxine® extract is standardized to contain a minimum of 15% Aframols and, in particular, 12.5% 6-paradol.

So, what does all of this mean? In the human body, there are two types of adipose tissue (body fat), WAT (White Adipose Tissue) and BAT (Brown Adipose Tissue). WAT is the tissue that is responsible for storing the excess energy consumed through our diet, whereas BAT is the tissue used for cold and diet-induced thermogenesis which plays a role in the body's energy expenditure and body fat content.

Paradoxine® has been found to help convert WAT into BAT, therefore converting the energy-storing fat tissue into the fat tissue that helps increase thermogenesis and total calorie expenditure. Studies have shown that subjects who consumed Paradoxine® had greater BAT activity than those who had a placebo.

Another study found that subjects who consumed Paradoxine® had greater decreases in body fat around the lower abdominals as well as lower levels of visceral fat in the same area when compared to those who consumed a placebo, with both groups NOT making any dietary or exercise changes.

How to consume

Studies that have tested the effects of Paradoxine® in humans have used dosages between 30-50mg per day, all with significant results in fat loss and increased energy expenditure. A dose of 30-50mg per day, every day is the ideal number to hit.

The majority of products containing Paradoxine® are fat-burning supplements; either stimulant-based or more commonly, stimulant-free formulas. The best time to take Paradoxine® is first thing in the morning and/ or before any cardio/ training session.
